The Worlds Original Marmalade Awards is a competition held annually at Dalemain Mansion in Penrith. Jane Hasell-McCosh started these quirky awards in 2005 in Dalemain. Her idea to preserve grow and widen one of the most British of customs of making marmalade resulted in a centre of attraction with many businesses, professionals and amateur marmalade makers entering. Dalemain Mansion, a stunning stately Georgian home and gardens is still lived in and has been by the same family for over 300 years.
Seville Orange & Welsh Cider Marmalade is made with a traditional Welsh farmhouse style cider. It’s a punchy Seville orange marmalade made in the traditional way and it’s perfect for cider lovers. We hand-cut the oranges into thick-cut peel and use whole fruit. After that we steep the oranges and cook out gently with the cider. This give you a wonderful depth of flavour with a light natural set. Resulting in a delicious, rustic, full of cider and orange flavour marmalade. .
Because we love this marmalade so much, we devised a wholesome Welsh Cider Marmalade Cake around it. The cake has become a customer favourite and is one of a selection of the Welsh wholesome cakes we make.
