Pantri Swswen

Pantri Swswen, is named after the Roman Queen Swswen who fought amongst the hills of Mid Wales and is the “Sws” in the Caersws village name. The name “Swswen” also translates from the Welsh language to pure or white kiss. This sits well with the simplicity of the speciality Welsh foods created by Lizzie.

Lizzie’s love of cooking started from an early age. Watching, helping and cooking with family in their farmhouse kitchen nestled beneath Cordon Hill in Mid Wales.  She started to make preserves; marmalade, chutneys, curds, pickles, conserves, jellies and jams, with her family in the early 80’s. These local handmade preserves were then sold in their shop.  After spending 10 years in Cambridgeshire working in manufacturing management, she returned to the Welsh Hills with her husband and young family based on their smallholding in Caersws, Powys. Inspired by her Aunts love of preserving and baking, she formed Pantri Swswen in 2012.

Pantri Swswen continue to follow the traditional principles and values of preserving, baking and cooking that Lizzie was brought up with.  We create luxury preserves and cakes made with Welsh ingredients and produce which are seasonal and locally grown. Our recipes are thoughtfully devised and handmade with care so you too can enjoy the taste and luxurious flavour of Wales.
