Pantri Swswen is among the Great Taste winners of 2018 for their Sticky Welsh Gingerbread
The Guild of Fine Foods Great Taste Awards, the world’s most coveted food and drink awards, has announced its stars of 2018. Pantri Swswen from Mid Wales was awarded a 1-star Great Taste award, which means judges dubbed it a food that delivers fantastic flavour for its Sticky Welsh Gingerbread. Judges comments “a lovely rich stickiness to it.” “We very much enjoyed the light yet rich and moist texture of this cake and felt the level of ginger in the cake was just right.” “We loved the crystallised ginger”…”We certainly found the cake moreish”
Lizzie Jones owner of Pantri Swswen, explains: We’ve been proudly making our luxury cakes with fine welsh ingredients for many years. Welsh Sticky Gingerbread is a Pantri Swswen firm favourite and we decided to enter it into the Great Taste Awards on a whim this year and have been rewarded with a gold star award! The Great Taste logo adds real value to our business in terms of credibility, opening doors to new retailers, and ultimately increasing our sales. We’ll be celebrating this award which comes hot on the heels of our early 2018 World’s Original Marmalade Gold Award for our Ruby Grapefruit & Welsh Honey Marmalade. We will be holding tasting events locally to celebrate our wins.
Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Whether it is vinegar , granola, bacon or cheese being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar, box or bottle before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of a 1-, 2- or 3-star award.
